PROMATIS Christmas donation 2023 goes to Integrata Foundation for the Humane Use of Information Technology
Ettlingen, 12/14/2023 – The topic of ethics and AI has never been more relevant. Artificial intelligence (AI) methods are said to have great potential for improving business processes, increasing the performance and customer benefit of products and developing new business areas and models. However, in addition to all the technical possibilities, one important aspect should not be overlooked: what is ethically justifiable? The challenges in this respect range from questions of transparency and personal rights to the ecological consequences of data use. The Integrata Foundation tackles exactly these issues and promotes the humane use of information technology in a changing society. As a long-standing companion, PROMATIS is working with the foundation to ensure that IT is used to improve the quality of life of as many people as possible, and so the specialist for intelligent business processes and Oracle digitalization solutions is following a matter close to its heart in terms of ethics and AI with this year's Christmas donation.
The daily use of artificial intelligence has become part of our everyday lives with chat GPT at the latest. In order to use new technology responsibly, it is necessary to acquire knowledge about its technical functions in order to enable critical reflection on ethical and social risks. Only by linking technological and ethical knowledge, we can ensure that technologies are used in accordance with the values and norms of a society.
The Integrata Foundation has become a respected institution that focuses on improving the quality of life of people in e-society with the aim of utilizing the potential of IT for this purpose.
Dr. Frank Schoenthaler, CEO of the PROMATIS Group, has been an honorary member of the Board of Trustees since 2003. On April 25, 2015, he was elected as the new President of the Board of Trustees, succeeding the late founder Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Heilmann, and has served in this honorary position ever since. This underlines his passion and the great importance of the topic "More quality of life through IT".
The conscious and sensitive use of AI in the corporate context is promoted within the PROMATIS Group and put into practice in the use of modern technologies as part of the digital transformation. To continue assuming ecological responsibility and raise everyone's awareness of ethical aspects, PROMATIS has opted not to offer the usual Christmas presents in the spirit of "donations instead of gifts".
"We are extremely happy about the very generous donation from the PROMATIS Group, which makes an important contribution to the foundation's fundamental work, namely civil society discourse. We will use it to finance our events and training formats, our participation in national committees and the activities in our think tanks in Tuebingen and Vienna," says Michael Mörike, Chairman of the Integrata Foundation for the Humane Use of Information Technology, expressing his thanks.
